GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Joel Janatuinen scored twice and Peter Thome made 20 saves to lead No. 8 North Dakota to a 5-1 victory over Colorado College on Saturday night and a weekend split with the Tigers.
After a scoreless first period, the Fighting Hawks netted a pair of power-play goals. Janatuinen opened the scoring, then Shane Gersich made it 2-0 when he put home a rebound.
"We can't give anybody that many chances," Tigers coach Mike Haviland said.
Nick Halloran scored his team-high 17th goal of the season during the third period to cut the lead to 3-1. Troy Conzo earned his third point of the weekend with an assist.
