Hip and trendy Swedish clothing retailer H&M will open its first Colorado Springs store at noon Thursday in Chapel Hills Mall.
The 23,000-square-foot store will carry clothing for men, women and children with separate sections for accessories, lingerie, sports apparel, maternity and its plus-size line called H&M+, according to a news release from the chain. H&M opened stores earlier this month in Boulder and Lakewood.
The Gazette reported in May that the retailer would occupy space that was being gutted to accommodate its store that had been occupied by American Eagle Outfitters, Helzberg Diamonds, The Gap and Academy of Life and Leadership Taekwondo. All four retailers were relocated to other parts of Chapel Hills Mall.
H&M, which is short for Hennes & Mauritz, opened its first U.S. store 13 years ago on Fifth Avenue in New York and has expanded to operate nearly 2,500 stores in 35 countries.
