There were no serious injuries in a crash between a Colorado Springs police cruiser and an SUV, but one driver was ticketed and both vehicles had significant damage, police said.
Northbound South Academy Boulevard at Academy Park Loop was closed for more than hour while police investigated the crash, which happened at 9:49 a.m. Wednesday, and cleared the debris.
The police cruiser was northbound on South Academy Boulevard when the driver of a Lincoln Navigator traveling south made a left turn onto eastbound Airport Road and crashed into the patrol car in the middle of the intersection.
Both drivers were treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released, police said.
The driver of the Navigator was ticketed for an improper left turn and careless driving causing injury, according to police.
