The Associated Press- Updated: July 21, 2013 at 2:23 pm

CANON CITY — The state historical society has pledged $40,000 to help preserve three stone buildings and the Incline Railway at the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that the stone buildings are the only remaining historical structures there besides the bridge after the June 11 Royal Gorge Fire (http://bit.ly/156I6xQ ).

One of the buildings housed the Incline Railway's operating equipment. Another once housed an ice cream shop, and the third was a caretaker's cabin.

The buildings were built in 1931 along with the incline.
