Surveillance video leads police to arrest burglary suspect

By Andrea Sinclair Published: August 28, 2013

Kyree Devon Howard-Walker, 20, was identified as one of two men caught in surveillance footage as they allegedly burglarized a home, Colorado Springs police said.

Howard-Walker was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after detectives received information leading to his arrest on the 2400 block of Lark Drive, police said. He was booked into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary and held on a $50,000 bond, court records show.

According to police, two men, one armed with a handgun, broke into a home on the 5200 block of Constitution Avenue on Aug. 19. The burglars allegedly disabled surveillance cameras on the outside of the house, but missed one in the master bedroom, which reportedly recorded the crime.

The homeowner, who asked to remain anonymous, shared the footage with police and media, which was made public Friday. In the images, the two men were seen going through furniture and removing items from a safe, reportedly getting away with jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Howard-Walker was identified as one of the burglars in the video holding a handgun, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and police are searching for the second man.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
