A 53-year-old woman was arrested in Security Friday after allegedly attempting to fire several shots at sheriff's deputies.
Just before 5 p.m., deputies responded to a home at the 1000 block of Withington Drive on a welfare check. Authorities found Pamela Langvardt, who was on the phone with dispatch, armed with a handgun and reportedly suicidal, spokesman Sgt. Joe Roybal said.
While deputies were negotiating with her, she pointed the gun at them and attempted to fire several times, but the gun malfunctioned, deputies said.
Several minutes later, Roybal said, she surrendered. Langvardt was booked into the El Paso County Jail without bond, on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer, menacing, possession of a weapon by previous offender, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
