Crime didn't pay Friday for one local woman - especially after she tried to bite the law.
Angela Flummer, 32, was trying to use false documents to open an account with a large personal check at a west side bank when she allegedly bit a responding police officer after employees and citizens there detained her and called for help, Colorado Springs Police said.
Officers were dispatched to a fraud in progress around 5:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo on the 3000 block of W. Colorado Avenue where they contacted Flummer. The suspect became combative and, during a struggle to control her, she bit one officer on his left hand, police said.
Flummer was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the struggle. The officer's bite wound didn't break his skin, which police attribute to the protective gloves he was wearing.
According to police, Flummer will be charged with assault on a peace officer and identity theft in connection with her actions at the bank.
