ASTORIA, Ore. — Authorities say a 45-year-old Colorado man died when he jumped from Youngs River Falls near the Oregon Coast and drowned.

Chief Ron Tyson of the Olney-Walluski Fire Protection District told The Daily Astorian newspaper (http://is.gd/ItEfta ) that a dive team and others responded after Tod Gary Wagoner of Williamsburg, Colorado, did not resurface following a leap from the rocks above. He died at the scene.

Williamsburg is located in Fremont County.

Tyson says Friday's death was the first fatality at the falls in a while, but there have been broken legs and other injuries. He urged people to stop jumping from the falls.
