Even though skies over Colorado Springs were sunny Wednesday afternoon, a chance of snow was in the forecast for a few parts of the Pikes Peak region.

Temperatures reached a high near 58 Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, but forecasters said there was a 20 percent chance of rain and snow before 9 p.m., and snow after 10 p.m., though little accumulation wa expected.

There was enough of a taste of winter overnight to force a few delays Thursday morning.

Woodland Park schools are on a two-dour delay. The Air Force Academy is on a two-hour delay for non-essential staff. Classes at the academy begin at 9 a.m. and the visitors center opens at 10 a.m.

Thursday's forecast calls for a chance of light snow before 8 a.m. but mostly sunny and breezy conditions during the day with a high near 38.

A warmup begins Friday, with an expected high of 49 and sunny skies.
