The El Paso County Veteran Services office is issuing identification cards for veterans without a military retiree or veteran health care ID card, to take advantage of available discounts.

An estimated 20,000 people in the county could benefit by saving hundreds of dollars a year, El Paso County Veteran Services Manager Jim Tackett said.

The Veteran Services office was established by state law to aid veterans, their dependents, and survivors with benefits they may be, or have been, able to receive from the federal government or state.

The office serves as a local liaison between the claimant and Department of Veteran Affairs.
