CORTEZ, Colo. (AP) — Rescuers are searching for a snowmobiler who was buried by an avalanche in southwestern Colorado.

Anthony Robert Yates was caught in the avalanche in the La Plata Mountains on Wednesday as he was trying to free a stuck snowmobile. The Durango Herald (http://bit.ly/1l7r7Cw ) reports that four other snowmobilers with him were also caught but managed to dig themselves out of the avalanche.

Rescuers and two helicopters also searched the area Wednesday until dark.
