Steady snow in Colorado Springs and points north was snarling Saturday afternoon traffic.

The Colorado State Patrol reported several wrecks and spin-outs on Interstate 25 north of Monument and other roads in the Pikes Peak region were getting slick by 5 p.m.

Traffic was bumper-to-bumper on I-25 at Woodmen Road and the Colorado Department of Transportation said the freeway was slushy and wet all the way to Fountain.

The snow is expected to stick around through the night with up to 3 inches of accumulation hitting parts of Colorado Springs.

The snow was expected to give way to freezing fog Sunday morning before gradual clearing.

A high near 45 is expected.

Sunday night is forecast to be partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Clear skies return on Monday when a high near 49 is expected. Temps for the week will top out on Wednesday with a forecasted high of 67.
