Snow season in Colorado Springs may not be over - the National Weather Service said a possible strong and slow-moving storm could reach the area late this week.
The forecast includes a chance of rain before 2 a.m. Thursday, followed by a chance of rain and snow with a low near freezing and a 40 percent chance of precipitation. The chance of rain and snow continues through Friday with a 40 percent chance of precipitation on Thursday, a 30 percent chance Thursday night and a 20 percent chance on Friday.
The National Weather Service reports that 40.9 inches of snow has fallen at the Colorado Springs Airport this season, already the most since 2000-01.
That is a big change from Monday and Tuesday, when highs are expected in the 60s. The high Wednesday is expected to reach the mid-50s and the high Thursday is expected in the low 40s before recovering to the high 40s on Friday and mid-50s next weekend.
