Sky Sox struggle on offense again, lose 3-1 at Tacoma

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox had trouble scoring runs again in Tacoma, this time in a 3-1 loss to the Rainiers late Tuesday night.

The Sox were blanked 1-0 in 10 innings Monday.

They were blanked again until the ninth inning when they picked up three of their seven hits to load the bases with one out. Tim Wheeler drove in one run with a groundout but Hernan Iribarren struck out to end the game.

Chris Volstad went the distance for the Sky Sox allowing three runs in eight innings all coming on two homers, with seven strikeouts and one walk. Ben Paulsen had two hits for the Sky Sox.

Tacoma scored twice in the third inning and once in the fifth. The Rainiers pitching coach was ejected in the fifth inning.
