SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The host Sacramento Athletics scored in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 3-2 late Thursday night and hand the Sky Sox their first four-game series sweep since almost this time in 2011.

Sacramento downed the Sky Sox in four games from July 30 to Aug. 2 in 2011.

With one out in the ninth, Michael Choice tripled and he was driven home on a game-winning single by Michael Taylor, the designated hitter who had three hits.

The Sky Sox tied the game in the eighth on a Charlie Culberson RBI single to drive in Jeff Rutledge. Rutledge drove in a run in the first inning with one of his two hits. Xavier Nady also had two hits for Colorado Springs, which fell to 54-50.

Five Sky Sox pitchers, including Jeff Francis who pitched three innings in long relief, combined to hold the Athletics to eight hits, but they allowed seven walks as they wriggled out of several tight spots. Sox pitchers had eight strikeouts.
