A 16-year-old boys was shot early Friday morning but his life was not in danger, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.

The shooting happpened in the 7400 block of Woody Creek Drive. Deputies were called in to investigate at about 1:30 a.m..

The teen was located a few blocks away from where the shooting took place - in the Security-Widefield area - and he was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lt. Jeff Kramer said several 9-1-1 calls came in about shots fired. Several vehicles were leaving the neighborhood as law enforcement arrived on scene. Deputies believe there was some type of party or gathering at a home in the area, a disturbance broke out and that's when shots were fired.

The only victim is the 16-year-old, according to Krame. No suspects have been identified at this time.
