Authorities on Monday night were investigating an officer-involved shooting in Fountain.
Fountain police said officers responded to Crest Drive on Monday evening on reports of a disturbance and arrived to find a man barricaded in a car.
Police said the man was shot by officers after displaying a handgun. The man was undergoing surgery Monday night at Memorial Hospital, police said.
Fountain Deputy Chief Bill Elder told KRDO that officers saw a woman was running from a crashed car and a man was sitting by himself with a gun pointed at his head.
Fountain police said two officers were forced to shoot the man twice after he pointed his gun at them. He was struck in the chest and hand.
No officers or residents were injured.
The two Fountain police officers involved in the situation will be on paid administrative leave pending the investigation, according to KRDO's report.
