Seven people were transported to the hospital, including one with critical injuries, just after noon Saturday after a car crash in Fountain, according to the Fountain Fire Department.

The driver of a small Mitsubishi truck was making a left turn onto southbound Highway 85 when it was T-boned by a Dodge pickup, Fountain Fire Chief Darin Anstine said.

The driver of the totaled Mitsubishi suffered critical injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital by Flight for Life, Anstine said.

Six other people with moderate injuries were transported to Penrose-St. Francis Hospital and Memorial, Anstine said.

Southbound Highway 85/87 was closed as of 1:30 p.m. between Main Street and Southmoor Drive but was expected to be reopen within the hour.
