Gazette Premium Content Series preview: Iowa Cubs vs. Sky Sox

Game times: Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 1:35 p.m.

What to watch: Jhoulys Chacin is scheduled to start the series opener Thursday for the Sky Sox in a rehab assignment. . The five catchers on the roster in this series bring a wealth of experience, including more than 1,500 games in the major leagues and Triple-A. In that group, the Sky Sox's Matt McBride (injured) and Michael McKenry and Iowa's Eli Whiteside have each logged big-league time.

Iowa prospects to track

Javier Baez, SS: A consensus top-10 prospect and the top-rated player by Baseball America in Chicago's system, Baez is the rare infield prospect with 30-home run potential.

Arismendy Alcantara, 2B: Versatile enough to play all over the infield or outfield, Baez's double-play partner also has big-time power and hit 15 home runs to go with 31 steals in Double-A last season.

Kyle Hendricks, RHP: The scheduled starter for Sunday's game, Hendricks is a Dartmouth product and the No. 11 prospect in the Cubs' system. He's 24-15 with an ERA below 2.50 in his minor-league career thanks to superior control.
