A guide leads adults learning to ski at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.

Maybe you're new to Colorado and haven't skied, or maybe you're a native who's never hit these world-class slopes. You probably feel out of place.

Now is your most affordable chance to fit in.

January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, and resorts around the state are teaching and dishing out tickets at a lower rate for beginners.

Here's a rundown of some options:

Monarch Mountain

Juniors ages 7-12 get a three-hour lesson, lift ticket and equipment for the day for $73. More information: http://www.skimonarch.com/.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area
