A security officer fired at a man suspected of breaking into at least six storage units at Motor City Mini Storage in southwest Colorado Springs.

The guard confronted the unidentified man about 11:14 p.m. Sunday, who raised his hands as if aiming and the guard saw what he believed to be a pistol in the burglar's hands, police said. The officer reportedly shot at the man, but he fled on foot leaving no trace of being wounded, police said.

K-9 and patrol officers swarmed the area on Motor City Drive, off 8th Street, but did not find the burglar.
