Two shootings within three days, barely a block away from each other, are being investigated by Colorado Springs police and may be related to gang violence.
An officer on patrol around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of South Circle Drive and Airport Road reported hearing five gunshots and several area residents called 9-1-1, saying shots were fired in the 700 block of Winnipeg Drive.
Upon arrival, police found several rounds had penetrated a home but no one was injured, police said.
Police said the investigation is continuing but they have named no suspects in Tuesday's shooting.
In a separate incident, a man and a boy were shot Sunday night after a brawl broke out on the same block, police said.
Callers reported several gunshots just before 10 p.m. in the area of Winnepeg Drive and Hutchinson Drive, with witnesses telling police the shooting was gang-related.
Police confirmed the shooting had occurred, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, but did not find the victims. The man, who had left the scene in his own vehicle, soon turned up at a hospital with a serious gunshot wound, police said.
The second shooting victim had driven himself to a residence in the 3100 block of East Dale Street, police said. Police did not release the victims' names or any details about their injuries.
Anyone with information about these incidents can call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
