GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — In a story June 5 about the death of a Seattle woman during a raft trip on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, the Associated Press, relying on information provided by Grand Canyon National Park, reported erroneously the woman's name. Grand Canyon National Park: Seattle woman on raft trip dies after apparent allergic reaction

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — A Seattle woman has died at Grand Canyon National Park after suffering an apparent allergic reaction while on a commercial raft trip on the Colorado River.

Park officials say 54-year-old Catherine Newman could not be revived after she was stricken late Tuesday. Her body was helicoptered out of the canyon on Wednesday.

Park spokeswoman Kirby-Lynn Shedlowski says no information is available on what might have triggered Newman's apparent allergy reaction.

The spokeswoman says the National Park Service is conducting an investigation and that the Coconino County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

Newman's group was on the fifth day of a seven-day trip through the canyon.
