JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — The Alaska State Museum has announced the availability of a scholarship to help Alaska Native students majoring in museum studies.
The $2,000 Ethel Montgomery Scholarship was announced in conjunction with the Friends of the Alaska State Libraries, Archives & Museum. According to a release, Montgomery was one of the first docents at the museum, and one of her dreams was to help young Alaska Natives become curators and directors at museum directors that celebrate Native culture.
The release says applicants must be enrolled in a federally recognized Alaska tribe and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in museum studies.
Applications are due by Nov. 30.
