New statistics show that lesbian, gay and bisexual high school students are at higher risk for stigma and discrimination that can lead to dating violence, bullying and other negative health factors, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study released this month.

The study found LGB-identifying students are more likely than heterosexual students to be physically forced to have sex, experience sexual dating violence, experience physical dating violence and be bullied at school or online.

Additionally, more than 40 percent of LGB students to have seriously considered suicide and 29 percent reported having attempted suicide in the past year.
