Khris Davis hit a three-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the third, putting Oakland ahead 4-3 with his ninth home run this season.

Springer, back from a strained left hamstring, singled to tie the score in the fourth.

Houston took a 6-4 lead in the fifth on Evan Gattis' RBI single and Alex Bregman's sacrifice fly.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Cowboys remained focused on defense in the NFL draft, shifting to pass coverage Friday after trying to boost the pass rush with their first pick.

Dallas selected Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie 60th overall in the second round, not a surprising move after losing lost two starters in free agency in Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne.

The Cowboys went cornerback again with the 92nd overall pick in the third round, taking Jourdan Lewis, a Michigan teammate of Dallas' first-round choice, defensive end Taco Charlton. Lewis has a domestic violence charge pending in Michigan.

Awuzie had five interceptions in four seasons with the Buffaloes. His 26 tackles for loss were the most for a defensive back

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Albert Pujols hit a tiebreaking three-run home run in the eighth inning for the Los Angeles Angels in a 6-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

Mike Trout also homered for Los Angeles, which quickly led 1-0 after Yunel Escobar went deep on the first pitch of the game.

Pujols' third homer of the season came on his first pitch from Jeremy Jeffress (0-2), who had already allowed a single to Kole Calhoun and walked Trout.

Deolis Guerra (1-1) picked up the win after a striking out two in a scoreless seventh inning.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Jalen Tabor boldly declared last month he was the best player available in the draft.

After 52 picks were made before the cornerback's name was called, he wasn't backing down from the boast.

"That's just my confidence," Tabor said.

The Detroit Lions selected their second-straight Florida Gator, taking Tabor in the second round with the No. 53 overall pick in the NFL draft on Friday night after selecting linebacker Jarrad Davis in the first round.

"It's going to be incredible," Tabor said. "We were two of the hardest workers on Florida's team."

Detroit's second-year general manager Bob Quinn dealt the team's third-round pick, No.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens remained on the defensive Friday night, taking two outside linebackers and a 300-pound end on the second day of the NFL draft.

Addressing an insufficient pass rush that struggled in big games last season, general manager Ozzie Newsome selected sack specialist Tyus Bowser of Houston in the second round before adding Michigan lineman Chris Wormley and Tim Williams of Alabama in round three.

Let's just say the phone isn't ringing off the hook for Big 12 players so far in the NFL draft.

Only four players from the conference had been selected through the middle of the third round Friday night, and it appeared the conference was heading toward having the fewest draft picks among the power five leagues again.

The Big 12 started off with Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes going 10th to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. The next player to go was troubled Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon, 48th overall to the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday.

This was the first year since 2008 that the Big 12 had only one first-round choice.

Spurning offers for Garoppolo, who won't play in New England unless Tom Brady is injured or retires, Patriots coach Bill Belichick waited out the first seven hours of the draft. Asked how close he came to trading Garoppolo — the Cleveland Browns were one suitor — Belichick declined to say.

The Falcons traded down, giving away their second-round pick, to select LSU linebacker Duke Riley in the third round. One year ago, the Falcons took LSU linebacker Deion Jones in the second round. In 2015, Atlanta picked LSU cornerback Jalen Collins in the second round.

The reliance on LSU defensive players is no mystery to Riley.

DENVER — In a draft class viewed as weak on offensive linemen, the Broncos selected left tackle Garett Bolles with their first-round pick on Thursday.

Know what that looks like to me?

It looks like a general manager — one who has yet to sign a long-term contract — trying to slide a 2X4 under a championship window before it closes. It looks like “win now,” with a wait-and-see in place of “from now on.” It looks like the Broncos believe they are closer to another Super Bowl title than the AFC standings and their miserable finish to last season would suggest.

ENGLEWOOD — John Elway continued injecting some venom into his offensive line Thursday night when he selected Utah left tackle Garett Bolles with the 20th pick of the NFL draft.

"Every time he lined him up against the No. 1 receiver, he did his job," Miller said of Bailey, who retired after making his lone Super Bowl appearance following the 2013 season. "I just remember him being consistent. ... It was great. I hate that we couldn't win him a Super Bowl on the way out."

Verlinde delivered on Thursday, leading Air Academy past the Pikes Peak region 4A No. 1 Indians in an 11-3 blowout.

Verlinde pitched 61/3 innings, holding Cheyenne Mountain to two earned runs on seven hits.

The performance was just what the Kadets needed to close the gap in the race for the 5A/4A

Washington finished 9-1 on its road trip, taking three of the last four at Colorado. What's more, the Nationals scored 11 or more runs in three straight games for the first time since July 1986 at Atlanta, when the team was the Montreal
