GENEVA (AP) — The 2018 Winter Olympics will be without a potential star whose ban has been extended in a doping case involving a steroid in lip balm.

A former Olympic champion, World Cup winner and seven-time world champion in cross-country skiing, Therese Johaug is now barred from racing until mid-April.

The Pyeongchang Games are staged in South Korea in February.

The 29-year-old star of Norway's powerhouse squad tested positive for an anabolic agent listed in the contents of a treatment for sunburn, and a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) panel said on Tuesday an 18-month ban was "appropriate."

"I am heart-broken," a tearful Johaug said at a news conference at her training base in Italy. "I think it is unfa

The Malaysian star fell 21-19, 22-24, 21-17, for the first time losing in the opening round in 10 worlds, and to a non-seed.

Runner-up at three worlds and both Olympics since 2011, Chong Wei put off retirement after the Rio de Janeiro Olympics to try and win an elusive world championship. The 12,000-seat stadium in Katy will be the home field for eight high schools in the district. Soccer will be played there, too.

Katy voters in 2014 approved the construction as part of a whopping $748 million bond that will pay for new schools for a district of 74,000 students that's growing at a rate of 2,000 students a year.

About $58 million was initially set aside for the stadium but rising costs pushed the price tag upward.

Rosier was announced Tuesday as No. 18 Miami's new starting quarterback, winning the right to take over for record-setting three-year starter Brad Kaaya under center for the Hurricanes. He beat Evan Shirreffs and N'Kosi Perry for the job, and threw for team-highs of 441 yards and five touchdowns in Miami's two camp scrimmages.

A bet made with her brother helped Kristina Mascarenas quit smoking. Now, it has made her the Pikes Peak Marathon champion.

Mascarenas, a 2007 Doherty graduate, overcame a 6-minute deficit at the summit to overtake Courtney Dauwalter as the top female finisher Sunday in the 26-mile race up and down America’s Mountain via the Barr Trail.

Mascarenas ran it in 4 hours, 38 minutes and 54 seconds, while Dauwalter, from Golden, ran 4:39:41 to place second.

“I don’t know if I have enough liquid in my body to cry,” Mascarenas said in the moments after winning.

DENVER (AP) — Jesus Aguilar homered twice, Chase Anderson won in his return from the disabled list and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Colorado Rockies 8-4 on Sunday for their sixth victory in seven games.

Keon Broxton drove in two runs and Jonathan Villar added three hits as the Brewers remained two games behind first-place Chicago in the NL Central. They climbed within 2½ games of Arizona for the second NL wild card — and are just 3½ back of Colorado, which holds the league's top wild card.

Anderson (7-2) allowed one run and two hits in five effective innings. He threw 73 pitches in his first start since straining his left oblique on June 28. The right-hander struck out four, walked three and hit

- Thomas Wolfe

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - On the blanketed bluffs alongside the mighty Mississippi stands the once great Cotton Capital, the convergence of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas, of the old South and the new South, and of Elvis Aaron Presley, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, remains so evident and prevalent.

Without prompting, a prominent stock broker tells me: "Truthfully, since April 4, 1968, and Aug. 16, 1977, it's never been quite the same in Memphis."

The assassination of Dr. King a year short of a half century ago and the death of The King 40 years ago.
