The Colorado Rockies took a couple of big steps toward building their bullpen for the 2018 season and beyond.
The Rockies re-signed hard-throwing left-hander Jake McGee and added durable setup man Bryan Shaw. Media reports also have the team making a final push to re-sign closer Greg Holland.
McGee went 0-2 with a 3.61 ERA in 2017. He posted a 4.73 ERA in 30 games at Coors Field and a 2.64 ERA in 32 games on the road.
Shaw, 30, went 5-6 with a 3.52 ERA and three saves in 79 appearances for the Cleveland Indians in 2017. The deal is for three years at aroound $9 million per year,
according to a report by ESPN's Buster Olney.
Shaw led the American League in appearances in three of the past four seasons, pitching in 80 games in 2014, 75 in 2016 and 79 in 2017.
While there is no official agreement with Holland, MLB network insider Jon Heyman tweeted that the Rockies were "closing in" on a deal.
