Fort Collins City Council approved a temporary ban on retail marijuana businesses Tuesday.

On Monday, the Florence City Council approved an ordinance, establishing a temporary moratorium on marijuana activities.
"The main purpose is to see what happens with the taxes in the November election," said Councilwoman Nichole Prickett.
Hemp is also in question, said City Attorney Bryan Fredrickson. The General Assembly is going to set up regulations on the hemp industry in the near future.
The moratorium is temporary and will be suspended March 31, 2014.
Resident Mike Vendetti passed out a letter in support of a recreational marijuana facility in Florence and suggested the city approve only one.
