The recount is in, and the Academy School District 20 board candidate who was ahead has prevailed in winning the seat, the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office announced Thursday.
Doug Lundberg will claim the third open seat on the D-20 board.
The margin between Lundberg and Will Temby increased from 0.164 to 0.193 percent - or three votes, according to clerk and recorder spokeswoman Mattie Albert.
"The minor change was the result of a more robust review of ballots that had been adjudicated for overvotes and undervotes," she said in a news release.
Lundberg was ahead of Temby by 17 votes, and the difference qualified for an automatic recount, which by state law is triggered when race results are less than one-half of 1 percent of the votes tallied.
The office recounted all 20,723 ballots cast by voters living in D-20 boundaries, using new high-speed scanning machines that debuted for the Nov. 7 election.
The recount began on Monday, and Albert said results were reviewed by a bipartisan team of election judges.
