A Colorado Springs Utilities crew working on a water project near East Cache La Poudre and El Paso Street accidentally ruptured a gas line Tuesday, forcing the evacuation of two homes.

"There were ... between six and eight people evacuated, but they're all back in now," utility spokeswoman Natilia Sibert said.

The gas line was hit just before 2 p.m. Fire department crews clamped the gas line about 2:20 p.m.
