GOLDEN — Investigators say a 22-year-old man arrested in the killing of a man whose body was found in a burning home in Golden had argued with the victim over rent.

The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/1iWAOa1 ) an arrest affidavit released Monday says Thomas Kevin Laperch moved into the home from Maryland about a week ago after answering 54-year-old William Burchett's ad for a roommate on Craigslist. Since then, the two had argued about the rent and Burchett was planning to ask Laperch to leave, according to the affidavit.

Investigators found Burchett's body in the burning home Saturday and arrested Laperch the next day. A judge advised him of his rights Monday but he hasn't been charged.

Police say they found Burchett's home ransacked and an empty kerosene bottle on the floor.
