Colorado Springs police claim a woman arrested Sunday a fired several shots at an apartment because her roommate had not been paying rent

Kalie Marie Kerr, 19, was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing and booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.

Police responded to a call of shots fired into an apartment on the 1600 block of North Murray Boulevard, off Palmer Park Boulevard, about 1:45 a.m.

A man told police that two women had tried to force their way into his apartment because they were looking for a third woman who was inside, police said.

Police say the man told officers one of the women, later identified as Kerr, was armed with a handgun and had pointed it at him before he was able to close the door.

Moments later, the man told police, shots came from the parking lot and one round hit the apartment. No one was injured.

The woman hiding inside the apartment told police that she and Kerr shared an apartment on Arlington Drive and that they had argued over rent, police said.

The woman said she had fled to the apartment on North Murray Boulevard after Kerr had allegedly pointed a gun at her demanding the rent money.

Officers executed a search warrant at the apartment on Arlington Drive and Kerr was detained without incident, police said.
