Emily Stith, who skipped her graduation ceremony from Rampart High School last week to compete, was rewarded for her efforts on Friday with two air rifle silver medals at the 27th meeting of the Shooting Hopes junior competition in Pilsen, Czech Republic.

Stith, the 2017 Junior Olympic champion in air rifle, had qualified for the finals with a fifth-best score of 415.7 and then moved up three spots to fall short of gold by only four-tenths of a point to Russia’s Maria Ivanova.

The Colorado Springs resident athlete led a strong showing by the U.S. contingent that included three finalists and two team medals (women's air field silver; men's three-position rifle bronze).

Other locals who placed were Ruby Gomes (32nd, women's air rifle); Jared Desrosiers (12th, men's three-position rifle); and Will Shaner (19th) and Charles Platt (28th, men's rapid fire pistol).
