Setting aside an hour every single day to work out in a big box gym is not an option — or even a desire — for the majority of people. While 15 percent of the U.S. population might be able to get into this everyday groove, the high demand can be discouraging for those trying to get fit and stay healthy without carving out considerable time from their already busy week. The Exercise Coach® changes all of that. “Our aim is to target the other 85 percent of people who are looking for a more effective and efficient method to keeping fit and healthy.  Sometimes they are on the sidelines wishing for a better option.  We’re a perfect fit for people who standard workouts just don’t work for - busy professionals, people sick of the big box gyms, those concerned about getting hurt or people who simply don’t like to work out.  These clients thrive in our system,” says John Suazo, owner of The Exercise Coach® in the Briargate area of Colorado Springs.

Suazo is a 1987 graduate of Manitou Springs High School. He entered the United States Naval Academy and thereafter entered flight school at Naval Air Station Pensacola. During his career, Suazo accrued more than 3000 total flight hours – mostly in the F-14 Tomcat and the FA-18 Super Hornet. He has logged over 200 combat flight hours and over 530 carrier arrested landings on six different aircraft carriers.  He is a graduate of the Navy’s prestigious Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and received his master’s degree from Naval War College in Newport, R.I.

After retiring from 24 years of Naval service following a tour at U.S. Northern Command at Peterson AFB, he and his wife Nikki wanted to share their passion of health and nutrition with others. The Exercise Coach®— locally owned and operated — has been changing lives since 2015. The studio emphasizes whole effort exercise and whole food nutrition affording their clients the results that matter to them most in just 2 twenty-minute workouts per week.  The Exercise Coach® calls this safe, effective, efficient, and highly-personalized regiment The Smart20™ Workout. Essentially the individual only needs to commit to two higher intensity shorter duration sessions per week, while sticking to a healthy whole food nutrition plan, in order to reap the maximum benefits of the full-body workout.

There are six trainers at the studio, including John and Nikki, who provide one-on-one or semi-private training in groups of no more than four. “Due to our proprietary technology, we are able to deliver personal training sessions at 50-60 percent less than the average cost of a personal trainer in Colorado Springs,” says Suazo. Research facilities, clinicians, pro sports teams and The Exercise Coach® franchise have exclusive access to the specialized equipment. High-tech computerized machines electronically adapt to each individual rather than the client having to adapt to traditional weights and treadmills.  Their world-leading training technologies power workouts that are strong enough for elite athletes and smart enough for the not-yet-so-fit.

Coaches use these advanced technologies to measure their client’s unique muscular capability. A friendly coach energizes every personalized “right intensity” workout and the client benefits from real time digital feedback from the equipment.  The workout efficiently focuses on both concentric and eccentric loading. “Muscle quality matters more than movement quality,” says Suazo. “We are able to activate more muscle fibers than with conventional exercise and cardio, which results in the adaptations and outcomes our clients want – strength, flexibility and weight control for starters.”

The Exercise Coach® encourages clients to supercharge their workouts and their results by integrating whole food nutrition into their life. “We show people how to truly change the way they think about nutrition,” Suazo says. “There are no counting of points or calories, and no meals to buy.  We teach clients how to cook and eat healthysomething that is sustainable for the long term.  Not some fad diet where they lose weight only to gain it back in a few months.   It’s more of a lifestyle change where individuals can embrace healthy eating habits that will complement their workout.”

The Exercise Coach® is the perfect solution for those looking for a new approach to fitness. By committing just 20 minutes twice a week, and making a few shifts to dietary behaviors, clients can reach optimal wellness.  The Exercise Coach® of North Colorado Springs is so confident in their program, they are currently offering prospective clients 3 free personal training sessions with no obligation.

The Exercise Coach®, founded by CEO Brian Cygan in 2000, has been named among The Top Emerging Franchises for the second year in a row by Franchise Business Review and has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News and USA Today.  There are currently over 40 locations operating in 14 states. The Exercise Coach expects to have a total of 250 total locations in 35 states in the coming years.
