Auto insurance giant Progressive Corp. is again hiring for its Colorado Springs call center, planning to fill 90 sales and customer service jobs during the rest of the year.
The company, which employs 825 in the call center and another 400 in an information technology operation at the same location, filled more than 300 similar positions during the past year. The latest openings are for jobs that start Oct. 14 and include up to 18 weeks of paid training. Progressive also is recruiting to fill 85 information-technology openings in Colorado Springs and at its Cleveland-area headquarters.
Ohio-based Progress is adding more than 800 additional sales and customer service jobs at six other locations to fill openings resulting from turnover and new positions created as a result of the growing popularity of new products, including the company's Snapshot policy that uses a device that tracks the policyholder's driving habits for a month to determine how much a discount they should get, said Christy Palfy, the company's recruiting manager.
The call-center openings require a high school diploma. The sales jobs require a year of sales experience and either two years of experience in customer service or two years of post-high school education, while the customer service positions require two years of experience in customer service. The full-time jobs include benefits and annual profit-sharing payments of up to 16 percent of pay. The pay range of both the sales and customer service jobs is $13.50 to $15 an hour.
