Russ Davis Wholesale Inc. will employ 165 people when it opens a food production, processing and distribution plant in a former pet food plant in the Pueblo Memorial Airport Industrial Park.
The Minnesota-based fresh produce distributor will receive $2.76 million in incentives from Pueblo's half-cent sales tax for economic development and for job training at Pueblo Community College.
The deal was put together over the past two months by the Pueblo Economic Development Corp.
Company President Adam Gamble said Pueblo was chosen for its location, available properties, labor market and the economic development incentives.
The 63-year-old employee-owned company operates five other distribution centers in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin for its "Crazy Fresh" brand of fresh-cut and specialty fruits and vegetables.
