CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago's Pritzker Military Museum & Library will be the new home to a collection showcasing World War II-era aircraft.

The collection of more than 2,500 books and 1,800 model airplanes is a gift from the family of Charles E. Metz, who died in 2012,

Museum officials will unveil the collection next week.

They say Metz obtained the items over five decades, and the items will be available to researchers as well as the public.

The books include rare titles, including Juan Carlos Salgado's Focke Wulf FW 200 Condor.

Metz was a longtime instructor at the University of Chicago, who was known for his work in health-related imaging science.

The collection will be unveiled next Thursday.
