DENVER — Six bottles of a rare French wine that could fetch thousands of dollars on the black market were swiped from the wine cellar at a Denver Hotel.

The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/1e1Pouk) that six bottles of 2000 Château Petrus were stolen from The Brown Palace Hotel in Denver.

A maitre'd at the hotel's Palace Arms restaurant reported the theft on Dec. 2, although it is unclear when the wine was stolen. According to the police report, there are no suspects.

The hotel valued the six bottles at $4,600. The bottles of that vintage would not have been uniquely marked, so if one were placed for sale in a retail setting or an auction, there is no way to know where it came from.
