A fight early Friday in the middle of downtown Colorado Springs ended after one man was slashed in the leg with a machete, police said.

Police said officers responded just before 2 a.m. to East Pikes Peak Avenue and Tejon Street and found a man with the large knife.

"The gentleman with the machete complied with police instructions and dropped it when told to do so," police said in a report.

During the fight, police said one of the men was cut with the weapon.

The injured man was treated at a hospital and later released, police said.

No other details about the altercation were released.

No arrests were made, and the police investigation is ongoing.
