TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police say a fugitive from Colorado shot and killed his girlfriend then shot himself after stealing a car in north Tulsa and leading police on a chase.

No names were released immediately after the Tuesday afternoon chase and shooting. Police say the woman whose car was stolen was not injured.

Deputy Police Chief Dennis Larsen told reporters that police were pursing the couple when they abandoned the car they were in and stole another car before the man shot his girlfriend and then himself to end the chase.

Officials say the man was taken to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition.

It was not released where in Colorado or on what charges the man was wanted.
