Police search for assault suspect

Colorado Springs police are searching for a man who allegedly strangled a woman and pointed a .357 revolver at her.

According to police, 25-year-old Aubrey Lanny Adams attacked a 23-year-old woman at her home in the 100 block of North Meade Avenue on Sept. 29. Investigators were alerted to the alleged assault after the woman was treated at Memorial Hospital.

During the investigation, officers were told that Adams allegedly strangled the woman, then used the revolver which he found at the house and threatened her with it. The victim reportedly fought back and the gun was fired once into the ceiling.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Adams on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder.
