The vehicle police believe was involved in a hit-and-run Saturday night in Fountain was recovered and a person of interest was interviewed by detectives, but few details of the ongoing investigation were released Monday.
"At this point it's too premature to give out any more information, we're still waiting for a search warrant to be completed," said Fountain police Lt. Ron Reeves.
A 44-year-old man was hit, most likely by a truck, at 11:40 p.m. Saturday near South Highway 85 and Cattail Marsh Road, police said. Reeves did not provide an update on the condition of the victim, who reportedly suffered injuries to his left side and was transported to Memorial Hospital.
An unidentified person watching a news report contacted Fountain police Monday and was interviewed in connection with the hit-and-run, Reeves said. A vehicle was recovered and the person was released, pending further investigation.
"We believe the vehicle was involved in the hit-and-run," Reeves said.
In a previous statement, Fountain police described the hit-and-run vehicle as a truck that should have damage to the passenger side front headlight area.
