By Andrea Sinclair Published: July 31, 2013

A botched carjacking Tuesday had Colorado Springs police on the lookout for the alleged robber and his accomplice, who remain on the loose.

Around 6 p.m., police responded to the 3600 block of Sinton Road over the reported carjacking attempt. The victim told police a man armed with a handgun had approached him and tried to take his car, but had been unsuccessful.

According to the victim, the armed robber and another man ran east into a wooded area, eluding police. Officers searched the area for hours, but did not find the two men.

The armed man was described as 5-foot-9 with a thin build, between 20 and 30 years of age, with dark hair, police said. There was no description available for the second male.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
