A botched carjacking Tuesday had Colorado Springs police on the lookout for the alleged robber and his accomplice, who remain on the loose.

Around 6 p.m., police responded to the 3600 block of Sinton Road over the reported carjacking attempt. The victim told police a man armed with a handgun had approached him and tried to take his car, but had been unsuccessful.

According to the victim, the armed robber and another man ran east into a wooded area, eluding police. Officers searched the area for hours, but did not find the two men.

The armed man was described as 5-foot-9 with a thin build, between 20 and 30 years of age, with dark hair, police said. There was no description available for the second male.
