Colorado Springs Police arrested five suspected bank robbers around noon Thursday, about an hour after they allegedly robbed a fourth bank in Colorado Springs.
Investigators with the Colorado Springs Police Department's robbery unit were waiting for Terrell Marion 29, his 21-year-old brother Deshawn Marion, and three suspected accomplices as they pulled into the parking lot of the Pine Creek Village Apartments at 720 Chapman Drive, said Sgt. Dale Fox of the robbery unit.
After learning that the ANB Bank at 1095 W. Garden of the Gods Road had been robbed late Thursday morning, investigators set up and waited at two places they believed the suspects would show up.
Authorities had been investigating the group of men, all in their 20s, and its suspected ringleader, Terrell Marion, who is from Tennesee and on probation, after a string of late morning bank robberies that began on Dec. 11 when a UMB Bank at 290 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. was robbed by a pair of masked men.
On Jan. 6 and Jan. 13 two TCF branches were hit by robbers who jumped over the counters, demanded cash and got away in stolen cars, which were later found abandoned by police.
Investigators said the robbers did not have guns in any of the robberies, something Fox called unusual. Police said all men, two of whom are related to the brothers, are connected to each of the robberies in varying degrees.
They believe at least four men were on scene at the ANB Bank robbery Thursday.
