A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly led officers on two foot chases through Colorado Springs, police said.
A tip led officers to West Uintah and North 17th streets just after 5 p.m. to find Derek Okazaki, who was wanted on several alleged offenses, including kidnapping, domestic violence and strangulation.
"Officers flooded the neighborhood and flushed him out of hiding," police reported.
The suspect fled and was pursued by officers as he went over a 15-foot retaining wall, police said. He then ran to a gas station and refused orders to stop.
An officer tased Okazaki on a grassy strip behind the gas station, police said.
Shortly after he arrived at a local hospital, Okazaki allegedly escaped from a police cruiser and led officers on a second foot chase, police said. With the help of a citizen, the suspect was later caught a second time.
A recruit officer suffered minor injuries during his landing over the retaining wall, police said.
