A Colorado Springs man was arrested on suspicion of obstruction after police said he stood over a bridge overlooking Interstate 25, threatening to jump and being hostile with officers.

Rodney Reid, 58, was booked into the El Paso County jail Tuesday and held on a $500 bond, court records show.

Reid was allegedly leaning over the guardrail of the northbound bridge over I-25 and South Circle Drive around 5:30 a.m. when police tried to talk him down for his own safety.

After trying to talk Reid down for over an hour, police used a 40mm impact weapon to distract him, giving officers a moment to grab him and take him into custody. Police said Reid was not injured.
