Colorado Springs police arrested a 19-year-old man early Friday after he allegedly broke into a burned out, boarded up apartment building.

Officers went to the scene in the 4600 block of Hinsdale Way shortly before 2 a.m. Four people were coming out of the building as police arrived.

The startled would-be burglars quickly ran back into the building, a police blotter report said.

Officers surrounded the building and called the K-9 unit. Police commanded anyone in the building to come out. That's when Estevan Martinez surrendered. Martinez was taken to the El Paso County jail on suspicion of criminal trespass. The other three people apparently escaped from the back end of the building before police surrounded it.
