Two men were arrested Tuesday after reports of gunfire and a police pursuit through southeast Colorado Springs.

Trenton Hollis Porter, 22, was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular eluding and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, police said.

Damien Leonard Lewis, 27, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer and felony parole violation, records show.

Officers close to Flintshire Street and St. Paul Drive heard several gunshots about 9:30 p.m. and spoke with a witness who allegedly saw muzzle flashes coming from a white Ford Mustang less than a half mile away, police said.

Police quickly spotted a Mustang matching the witness description near the intersection of Monterey Road and Union Boulevard, south of U.S. 24, according to police reports.

The driver of the Mustang, later identified as Porter, pulled into a 7-Eleven parking lot and fled from pursuing patrol cars, police said.

The chase ended when Porter allegedly crashed the Mustang into a garage on the 2100 block of Gilpin Avenue, police said. Porter and the vehicle's passenger, identified as Lewis, ran from the car and police caught up to them shortly after.

Porter was allegedly aggressive and police used a stun gun to subdue him. Officers reportedly found a 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun in Porter's possesion, police said.

Lewis was on parole for aggravated robbery and was booked into the El Paso County jail without bond, said Colorado Springs police spokeswoman Lt. Catherine Buckley.

Porter was held on a $2,000 bond at the El Paso County jail, records show.
