The Boulder-based Brewers Association has launched the most ambitious crowdfunding campaign ever attempted, with a goal of raising $213 billion to buy the world’s largest brewing goliath, ABInBev.
The international conglomerate, which last year acquired mega-beer competitor SABMiller, has been busy gobbling up established American craft beer labels, including Goose Island, Breckenridge and Wicked Weed.
The not-for-profit Brewers Association aims to Take Craft Back from Big Beer by raising enough money to extend an “offer they can’t refuse” to the world’s most power beer-maker.
“Over the past several years, Big Beer has been attempting to buy their way into the craft beer movement by acquiring small breweries at a rapid rate and using their acquisitions to invent craft brewing bona-fides,” reads a statement from the organization.
