Among others up for best picture, it's not as magical ("The Shape of Water") or as heart-rending ("Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri"). Actually, among the nine, it might be the corniest. But in telling the story of how The Washington Post rose to prominence with the Pentagon Papers and an underdog female publisher, the movie feels the most important.
